There was "Yamahoko-junko” parade of the late Gion Matsuri festival.
At 8:30 in the morning on Sanjyo Shinmachi, I was able to see three Yamaboko float headed towards the starting point of the parade.

While passing through a narrow road, the mountain car will go north in order of Kitakannon-yama, Minamikannon-yama, and Ofuneboko.

Yamahoko-junko - Gion Matsuri first festival 2018

hoshoyama-1.jpg

”Yamaboko-junko” was held and 23 floats parades passed.
The temperature in Kyoto city rose to nearly 39 degrees Celsius. Because of too much heat, the spectators seemed less than usual.

hoshoyama-2.jpg

This is a parade scenery of "Hosho-yama".
This float depicts the story of Fujiwara Yasumasa (Hosho is another way to read his name in Japanese), an 11th century Japanese warrior. He loved a court lady, who entreated him to get some plum blossoms, which were blooming at the Imperial palace. This float is, therefore, worshiped as the God of love, and on the festival eve, people can get a special talisman for a happy marriage in front of this float.
